What I’m Thinking About
In the first episode, I mentioned how Germanee and I both had August off, so we made a plan for an “Adult Summer Break” where we would do various things around the city. We wanted to be intentional about calling play into our lives, and do things we wouldn’t normally do during the work week.
We created a shared note on our iPhones and compiled a list of random things to do in the city. Now, what Germanee failed to mention is that she would be leaving me for 2 weeks during August (eye roll emoji), so we did our best lol. We also did a few things without each other (I flaked on High Frequency Friday, but she went with another friend and had a great time lol).
So what did we do?
Top Golf & Chattahoochee Food Works
On August 1st, I had plans to meet up with the homie Julian, who recently moved to ATL, so instead of doing lunch somewhere, I pitched the idea to go to Top Golf and invited G. We had a great time and ended up at Chattahoochee Food Works afterward, which marked another place off on our list. If you didn’t know, Top Golf is half off on Tuesdays! The price increases the later it gets, but it’s still a discount from other days.

Homemade Sushi Rolls
Later that week, I was chillin’ on my couch when G called me talking about making homemade sushi rolls. My job announced layoffs the same day we were supposed to do a team-building event making sushi at home, so I had most of the ingredients, minus the fish. G picked me up and we went to Your Dekalb County Farmers Market (IYKYK) to get the rest of our ingredients and some fresh fish (did you know that ‘sushi grade fish’ is literally just the freshest fish at the market - wild right?). This was A LOT OF FUN and very yummy. The sushi was so good we barely got good photos of the rolls. I highly recommend using Roll This Way for a kit AND this bomb cocktail I made.

Lucian Books & Wine
On a random Tuesday, we posted up at Lucian Books & Wine for lunch, which is super cute and super pricey lol. This place was on my list for a while (can you guess why? 📚). The wine and food were good - we had the crisp polenta and lobster salad to start, and the duck leg with peas and turnips. I also had their Pét-Nat Rosé from Domaine Sérol, Turbullent, Loire Valley, France 2022 which was very crisp and perfect for a warm summer day.

Other things I did in August
Two Atlanta Dream games, the 50 Cent concert, Jazz night at the High Museum, BEYONCÉ!!, a massage, boogie dinner with friends that ended at Rock Steady, a free workout class at the Home Depot Backyard, Earn Your Leisure Invest Fest, belt line walks, and 9Round workouts!
While this list makes it feel hella busy, it didn’t seem that way at the moment lol I actually wish we could’ve hit a Braves game or some of the other things on our list, so I’ll be intentional about doing some of these things in the future!

What I’m Reading
If you’ve known me long enough, you know that romance novels are my jam! In the first two episodes, I shared wonderful non-fiction titles with you, but now it’s time to get back to what I love the most!
Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan
I rate this book 4/5 stars!
Trigger Warning: Depression and Child Loss
Y’all, this book is so good! I was engrossed from the very beginning because I wanted to know how this story would end (although I was sad to finish lol). This is a second chance at romance book about a divorced couple who owns a thriving business together and have two kids. You’re taken on a journey to see how they manage being in each other’s lives while divorced, and if they’ll wind up back together.
The best part of this is that the book has been picked up for TV adaptation at Peacock and will be directed by Malcolm D. Lee (i.e. The Best Man & Girls Trip)! I personally can’t wait to see if they do the book justice!
What I’m Watching
The Ultimatum on Netflix
I don’t have much to say about this show because I think this season was a wash. None of the couples seem to like each other, and I don’t think any of them want to marry who they came with. I was exasperated the entire series, but once I was invested, I had to finish!
Have you all watched the latest season? Thoughts?
What I’m Vibin’ to
Victoria Monét - Jaguar II
I love this album and I put that on my own mama, on my hooood lol!
While I do wish it was a liiiiitle bit longer (that’s always going to be my number 1 complaint for 30min albums lol), I love every track!! I’m excited for what’s to come of Victoria’s solo career since sis has already killed it as a songwriter!
My favorite tracks are all of them haha, but I especially like “Alright” since my fave, Kaytranada, produces it!

Bonus Track: The Libby App

Today I would like to feature the Libby App which you can use to check out free e-books and audiobooks from your library! There are way too many people in my network who read A LOT and don’t know about this app, so I feel like I now must put y’all on.
First of all, if you don’t have a library card, you should go get one ASAP. In a lot of areas, you can sign up online, and the process is very quick.
As someone who has lived in multiple places, I can add all of my library cards to my account. This comes in handy when trying to check out a poppin book, because the wait time may be shorter in different areas. It’s clutch.
I got myself a Kindle for Christmas, so I can read my Libby books on my Kindle, but you can use your phone or your iPad as well.
Libby also has magazines, which are clutch as well.
Stop buying all those books y’all - check them out for free from your local library!
Jaguar II is super vibes.
I’m late but thank you for sharing this Libby App!!! Just downloaded and shared with one of my reading friends lol
